A Year in Sewanee – May

This is installment 5 in a project to document a year in Sewanee with five photos taken each month on the Sewanee Domain.

See the April post here.

Nature: You’re likely aware of this year’s arrival of the 13-year cicadas, known as Brood XIX. Here’s an empty shell an adult left behind near the water tower shortly after emerging from the ground.
Scenic: This was the tranquil spring scene on a mid-May morning at Lake Dimmick. Carpets of small water lilies grow near the shoreline.
Weather / sky: A post-sunset sky seen one evening from the Cross.
Urban: The School of Theology’s picturesque Chapel of the Apostles. Note the reflection of Quintard Hall in the glass.
Farm: The University Farm’s strawberry patch, viewed through the deer fencing.

Watch next month for photos from June.
