The Lula Lake Land Trust (LLLT) plays an integral role in the establishment of a protected land and trails corridor connecting the Lookout Mountain unit of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park with Cloudland Canyon State Park. LLLT was founded in 1994 for the primary purpose of preserving the beauty and natural resources of Lookout Mountain’s Rock Creek watershed. Today, the organization has protected 12,000 acres within the watershed, while directly owning over 3,500 acres, and has built 60 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and trail running.

The Core Preserve, with over 8 miles of trail, is only open to the public the first and last weekends of each month and requires reservations. But other lands and trails managed by LLLT are open daily.

The 34-mile River to Clouds Route is a multi-use trail that begins at the northern base of Lookout Mountain, where it connects to Chattanooga’s greenway system, and ends in Sitton’s Gulch at Cloudland Canyon State Park.

There are several trail networks connected to the River to Clouds Route, such as the 8-mile Moonshine Trail system.

The Trust has recently published a new interactive trail map on their website which shows the entire system in great detail. You can click just about anywhere on the map for a pop-up box with more information.
