A Year in Sewanee – August

This is installment 8 in a project to document a year in Sewanee with five photos taken each month on the Sewanee Domain.

See the July post here.

Scenic: Fall seems to be getting an early start this year, as evidenced in this late August scene at Lake Cheston. Even more color has emerged in the week since then.
Weather / sky: Early dawn at Green’s View.
Urban: A vibrant clump of oak-leaf hydrangeas behind All Saints’ Chapel.
Farm: This curious goat literally stands out from the herd as they graze late summer pasture.
Nature: I found this butterfly, called a silver-spotted skipper, on a flowering shrub outside St. Luke’s Chapel.

Watch next month for photos from September.
