Scenic: Lake O’Donnell mirrors a crisp December sky. Along with Lake Jackson, Lake O’Donnell is the source of Sewanee’s water supply. Weather / sky: The trees on the Sewanee golf course emerge from a fog enshrouded background.Urban: All Saints’ Chapel on a foggy winter day.Farm: This horse at the equestrian center comes in for a closer look.Nature: These frost flowers, seen along the Mountain Goat Trail on an early December day, are a rare phenomenon. They occur when the air is freezing, but the ground is moist and unfrozen. Water is pulled upward through the stems of plants whose roots are not yet dormant and freezes when it is extruded through splits in the stems.
I hope you have enjoyed this photographic journey through a year on the Sewanee Domain.
I have a new photography project planned for 2025, entitled “Bob’s Best Shots,” where each month I’ll present three or so of my favorite photos taken during the preceding month.
