Conservation Momentum Continues at the North Cumberland’s Clear Creek Gorge

Not long ago, the conservation community rallied together to protect a crucial stretch of wilderness along the Clear Creek section of Obed Wild & Scenic River National Park. Through this effort, we protected the viewshed and rich forests surrounding one of the last privately owned parcels along Clear Creek, securing 160 acres to expand the beloved national park.

And success breeds more success! Because of what we accomplished together, a nearby landowner was inspired to meet with TennGreen’s conservation team to protect an additional 60 acres in the area.

This land is remarkable, featuring stunning views of the Clear Creek gorge, diverse plants and wildlife, and dramatic rock outcroppings. It is adjacent to the previously conserved property and adds another half-mile of protected frontage along Clear Creek.

TennGreen has purchased this new property on behalf of the National Park Service, which will eventually own and manage it as part of Obed Wild & Scenic River National Park.
